Meet the founder

Helping my mum

I’m Alan Somerfield, founder of ShowerSpaah. What began as a design idea quickly became personal when I my mum started to find showering difficult. Climbing in and out of the bath, balancing, and dropping bottles.

So many people today face the same challenges — bending dangerously, juggling bottles, or needing help just to wash.

So I got busy and over 100 prototypes later got something working.

My claim to fame

Back in the ‘90s, I created the Stoplock — the iconic yellow steering wheel lock that’s still selling well today 35 years later.

From the kitchen table

The first ShowerSpaahs were packed up on my kitchen table — just me, a pile of boxes, and the belief that this could make a real difference.

Since then, we’ve grown — but what matters most hasn’t changed. The real satisfaction comes from the messages I receive from people who’ve felt that difference for themselves.

So what's in the name?


And just in case you’re wondering — yes, it’s spelled ShowerSpaah®. People sometimes type ShowerSpa, ShowerSpah, ShowerSpaa, or even ShowerSpaaah… but we like to think we’ve got the best version. Why? Because we put the “aah” in spa — that little sigh of comfort and relief you feel when something just makes life easier. That’s exactly what ShowerSpaah® is all about.
